Program Rundown and Registration (Click Here)
China's economic and political rise has created an important opportunity for Hong Kong, which has a unique advantage as a gateway to and from China. To fully benefit from this advantage, it is critical that Hong Kong strategically collaborates and integrates with the economies of the Pearl River Delta (PRD) region. In this effort, innovation will take a key role.
Information and communications technology (ICT), as an enabling technology and an industry, is vital in helping Hong Kong remain competitive in a global economy by increasing knowledge, promoting innovation and nurturing talent. These three areas have been highlighted by Chinese Premier Wen Jiao-bao as the key elements for the future development of Hong Kong.
Meeting the challenges faced by Hong Kong requires strategic planning and action. Hong Kong needs to take the lead to cultivate thriving creative industries in the region. It also must stay competitive in the development of its human expertise, which is critical to exploiting the opportunities of its close partnership with the Pearl River Delta. And, Hong Kong needs to integrate its resources with those available in the region to provide high-level services to the wider world.
As one of the most innovative industry sectors in a knowledge-based economy, ICT will contribute more over the next five years to help Hong Kong move in a direction that will make these goals achievable.
We are honored to have invited a team of prominent business leaders, renowned scholars and international industry experts to share with us their visions for the future of the ICT industry.

In his Budget speech presented at the Legislative Council this Wednesday, the Financial Secretary Mr. John Tsang identifies the challenges we face in the near future: globalization, the huge medical and welfare expenditure caused by the ageing population, environmental protection, and supporting the disadvantaged groups.
HKD115.6 billion surplus is recorded in this fiscal year. While the government will share the economy prosperity with the public by providing tax rebate, subsidies and grants, we advocate that a reasonable proportion of surplus shall be appropriated, through IT investment and adoption, for the society's long term development and tackling the challenges.
We, IT professionals, owe a duty to build a better future for our next generation! Please come and share your views on how our government should invest in IT to make our Hong Kong brighter. We need your input and wisdom!
