In his Budget speech presented at the Legislative Council this Wednesday, the Financial Secretary Mr. John Tsang identifies the challenges we face in the near future: globalization, the huge medical and welfare expenditure caused by the ageing population, environmental protection, and supporting the disadvantaged groups.

HKD115.6 billion surplus is recorded in this fiscal year. While the government will share the economy prosperity with the public by providing tax rebate, subsidies and grants, we advocate that a reasonable proportion of surplus shall be appropriated, through IT investment and adoption, for the society's long term development and tackling the challenges.

We, IT professionals, owe a duty to build a better future for our next generation! Please come and share your views on how our government should invest in IT to make our Hong Kong brighter. We need your input and wisdom!
